Yup. There is definitely an odd voyeur-esque aspect to blogland. Dooce writes about people coming up to her in Utah and being “Hey, it’s you! From the blog!” Yikes. (That would send me running for the hills.)
Also, there is an eerie disconnect from face-space. I had a back-and-forth with a blog friend (on their blog, in a non-The Mal persona), then met that person for lunch, then we resumed the back-and-forth on the blog post-lunch. It felt normal and strange at the same time.
I saw the article and was like, “Hey! I know that baby!” then I felt kinda like a weirdo.
