Move over, Fonzie.

Bloggers, prepare to jump the shark.

(Hey, we here at The Malcontent International Pop Culture Analysis Systems realize that “jumping the shark” has jumped the shark. But what are you gonna do?)

So if blogging is now becoming passé… what will replace it as the ultimate waste of time? Podcasting?

    Dear Malcontent,

I was directed to your site because you like “How to be Good,” too. Big whoopty, I know, but here’s the deal. I’m a new blogger; I have some four posts, but promise to become more engaging soon. Take me under your wing. You sound lovely.

I need fans, err friends to visit my blog. Most of my longtime friends aren’t bloggers though. So, Malcontent friends, check out me. I’m fun albeit I cuss like a sailor sometimes. Motivate me to do this blog thing, however you want to do so.

Also, I have applied, Malcontent, to Johns Hopkins for fall 2005, so any lowdown on Baltimore would be much appreciated.

Governor. Podcasting is a good guess, though it might lack the easy accessibility of blogging. I trust some new form of electronic navel-gazing will arise.

Blogging isn’t dead, or even close. But I think the overall quality is dropping and the popularity will decline as well. Still, those that are really doing a great job will continue to draw readers.

And Mari, thanks for your nice comment! I sent you an email with some advice, and some shameless Baltimore hubris.

    The Mal.
